A periodic, documented check that every user's access to a system is still appropriate for their current role — also called a user access review (UAR).
An access review (or UAR, user access review) is a recurring campaign where control/system owners confirm each user's current access is still justified, and remove or downgrade access that isn't. Nearly every framework requires evidence of periodic access reviews, typically quarterly, with sign-off from the person who approved the access.
